New: geotargeted Gorilla campaigns! Hi, I’m Aaron, the lead engineer of Fullscreen’s Gorilla product. We created Gorilla to give our creators exclusive sponsorship opportunities to earn extra revenue by including brand messages in their videos. Gorilla is an innovative ad solution that allows brands to scale their message across a demographically-targeted slice of Fullscreen’s massive creator network. I’m excited to announce the beta launch of Gorilla’s new geotargeting feature, which gives our creators more opportunities to make money and our advertisers more targeting options. Traditionally, we’ve paid creators based on the total view count of their videos. Starting today, brands can choose in which […]

Fullscreen and Universal Music Help You Monetize Cover Songs Every day, artists spend countless hours devoted to their instruments, cameras and computer screens, composing original melodies to share with the world. Thanks to the YouTube Partner Program, these creators have been able to monetize their original work. In addition to composing original music, many musicians also “cover” songs on YouTube. They reimagine songs originally written by another songwriter and creatively rework them in their unique style. Despite the hard work put in producing the video and the success of the final product, they have historically been unable to monetize from their covers. I’m thrilled to announce today that Fullscreen […]

Happy Two Years, Fullscreen! Dear Fullscreen family, Two years ago today, right after moving to Los Angeles, I opened up a laptop in my empty apartment and incorporated “Fullscreen, Inc.” as a California company. The following two years turned out to be the most rewarding years of my life. I first fell in love with video when I was in elementary school. My friends and I saved up enough money to purchase a toy camcorder called the PXL-2000. We must’ve shot hundreds of videos using the same tape, recording over it time and time again until the quality of the videos became practically unwatchable. […]

Fullscreen Launches Million Dollar Creator Fund Like many of us in Fullscreen, I began creating content before YouTube existed. I remember shooting a comedy pilot in film school about college students called Party Animals and shopping it around to multiple TV networks, hoping to nail a deal to help pay for rent. Unfortunately, I had no luck until a major network opened an online competition that offered the chance to get your pilot seen by network executives. I immediately employed help from my family, friends, and film school and began vigorously promoting the pilot through MySpace, Friendster, and all  the other cool online networks at that time. […]

Plus, it’s more fun this way. I’m very happy to announce that today we launched the new Fullscreen forums to beta.
