Last week we tried to host the very first #OfficeHours of 2017 and to be honest, it didn’t go well! Our stream kept disconnecting and eventually we chatted for 30 minutes without anyone actually ever seeing it.
It was a mess!
However, with that crippling defeat still looming over us, we walked into yesterday’s stream with the courage of lions and we went live.
We streamed our little hearts out.
A lot of wonderful people tuned in to the first successful Fullscreen Office Hours of the year and we had some great topics to go over – so let’s recap:
We discussed how the usage of “You” in the first 5 seconds of your video can help increase views pretty drastically. You can read more about the study by TubeBuddy and Hey.com here. This is a simple and effective way to engage your audience and make them feel more connected to you as a creator. It costs nothing and is easy to implement into your next video. Why don’t you try it and let us know how it works!
“Please promote my stuff”
We also chatted about leaning too heavily on other people promoting your work. Continuously messaging and commenting for others to share your work isn’t always the most effective way to get your videos viewed, and grow your channel. The more efficient way to grow your audience is to find creators to collaborate with and communities that you can become more involved in. By working with others and creating great content, you will be able to expand your viewership and open yourself up to all-new creative possibilities.
We also chatted about a few new community initiatives we’re working on here at Fullscreen…more to come on that!
