The road to YouTube stardom is a long and sometimes bumpy one. Time, patience, and commitment are all crucial for success—and social media promotion is increasingly important too.
If you asked 100 YouTubers what the most effective promotional platforms were, 99.9% would scream Facebook and Twitter. Granted, those are important, but they’re just the tip of the social media promotional iceberg. Snapchat, Instagram, Vine, and Tumblr are growing at an astonishing rate—so it makes sense for you to invest time in them.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll explore ways to use each of these platforms to promote your YouTube channel. This week we start with four ways to grow your YouTube audience via Instagram.
1. Tease out upcoming videos
Have a big YouTube video coming out and want to get your fans hyped? Make a 15-second Instagram video showing highlights of your YouTube work. Prankster Jack Vale has become a master of this art.
2. Give fans a behind-the-scenes look
One of the best parts about being a YouTube creator is the bond you form with your fans. A great way to strengthen that relationship is to post BTS shots. This allows your supporters to feel like they’re right there with you on your road to glory. In between stunts DevinSuperTramp always finds time to take a few snaps for fans.
3. Showcase 15 seconds of music tracks
Upload a 15-second sample of your latest track to Instagram along with a still image. This nifty trick takes advantage of Instagram’s audio capabilities and will have your fans craving the full version of your song. Take notes from BPM gurus Majestic Casual!
4. Post fan shoutouts
Fans love getting shoutouts. So use your Instagram feed to shine some light on some of your most loyal followers! Vlogger Megan Batoon provides an great example of how to highlight your fans with Instagram.
